We are offered the freedom of time in our practice. We don't prescribe to the insurance model so we aren't bound by rules and regulations that demand high numbers over quality of care. Certainly if you have any of the number of chronic diseases you were told at some point to alter your diet and increase your movement, but most often this is bypassed for pharmaceutical management. Not only do clinicians not have the time to educate you, but because this is such as known barrier to care, they aren't even educated in these modalities.
Nutrition and lifestyle are first-line interventions. Essentially all medication warnings will tell you that diet and exercise should be tried first, because medications in themselves have risks, significant ones at that, but who has had legitimate education that wasn't tailored by a company ready to make a profit from a subsequent purchase? We aren't selling diet products or even supplements. We don't make money off of our diagnostic orders. We empower through education so you can heal yourself by creating lifelong changes.
